Easy come...easy go.....
Well, my little kitty, Patches has destroyed one birthday gift already. She managed to somehow get on the fireplace mantle and knocked my vase of flowers down. The flowers can be replaced but the glass vase shattered all over the tile floor.
I did get another birthday surprise in the mail, some Florida Gator fabric. :-D I think I will use a piece to make ME something. Maybe a quilted iPod Touch case to keep that investment protected. ;-)

Let it snow? Um...maybe not...
Well, before any of you snow buried folks laugh or get upset, let me remind you that we live in the South and my boys have only seen snow 4 times as of this morning. This is a big deal for us. LOL
Our local area south of the mountains had a little dusting of snow last night. You can see my oldest in the photo already wanting to play in it before school this morning. My little south FL born munchkins are just wishing for a big snow fall atleast once this winter. :-)

Old Friends
I received a wonderful surprise last week for my 40th birthday from an old, dear friend. We met in 1980 when we were 10 years old. I was new at the school that year but somehow managed to make a wonderful bond & connection with this person. I moved away 6 years later but somehow over the years we have managed to stay in touch and are like sisters even though we are several hundreds of miles and several states away from each other.
The surprise was a lovely vase of flowers with a beautiful note inside. Reminds me of a poem I had done in calligraphy in art class before I moved away and had ironically given to her as a keepsake.
"Make new friends, but keep the old. These are silver, those are gold."
She truly is a gold friend. :-)
My First 2010 WIP
I'm working on an order I received a few weeks ago. It should be my first completed project of 2010. It's a king size rag quilt in OH State and red blender fabrics. This has been quite a project since all of the 180+ OH State squares had to be fussy cut but it's been fun as well. Not sure I could complain about being able to play in fabrics. :-)
Happy 2010!
I don't know about you but where did 2009 go to already? It sure did seem to fly by for me.
As always, our New Year always starts off with a bang of celebration. First the Eve celebration, the Day celebration, then my birthday celebration. To top it off this year, I turned the big 4-0; or that's what my boys keep telling EVERYONE.
We had a pleasant day; the boys and hubby took me out for breakfast then we ordered Chinese for dinner and even tried to use chopsticks. It was fun and we all did pretty well except for the fried rice, it wasn't quite sticky enough. Have you ever tried to eat one piece of rice at a time?! LOL
Here is a photo of the yummy cake they bought me, topped off with Oreo cookies.....mmmmmm.
I wish you all a very happy & healthy New Year.
