Apple Cider Vinegar Home Remedy

Ok, I don't usually share much "personal" information but this is worth passing on.

Anyone that knows me in person, knows I hate wearing shoes. Not sure if it's from living my first 5 years in San Diego on the beach and growing up at the beach in South FL or just hereditary from my mother. LOL

Anyway, last summer I got a planters wart on my left heel. I am guessing from the public pool at the apartments we were living at the time. I have tried just about every over the counter fix with no results.

Last week I did a search for home remedies on the web. WELL, there were tons of hits all pointing to using apple cider vinegar (acv) and um, well, duct tape. Yes, duct tape; not sure if that really has a purpose other than keeping the soaked cotton swap of acv on your foot but hey, at this point I'll try anything.

I bought a bottle of acv for $.85 and have a stock pile of cotton balls & duct tape from dh. I started this process last Saturday and already seeing MAJOR results! I soak a cotton ball with acv and tape it to my foot at night before I go to bed. I remove it in the morning, shower, then put a small piece of duct tape over the wart as a band aid type thing. Don't ask; I just read to do it that way.

It's been 10 days and the wart/virus is dying - yes dying - you can actually see the center of it turning black (as it should I'm told) and it is shrinking. The process doesn't hurt at all and neither does my heel anymore.

Hope this helps others out there - don't waste your money on those high priced OTC remedies - just buy a bottle of acv - you might smell like a salad overnight but it works!

Quilted Charm Tote

I had a very productive night last night. YAY for tax season being over. LOL

From Moda Swell Urban Chicks Quilted Tote

Click on the link above to see more photos.

I made this charm tote from a partial pack of Moda Swell charms by Urban Chicks. I then added a yellow blender fabric to brighten it up even more for spring/summer.

It measures 17" wide at the top, 13" tall and has a base that is 5" deep x 12" wide. The straps have a 10" drop that fit easily over the shoulder.

There is one inside pocket - this is a simple day tote/carry-all.

Bumble Bee Diaper Bag

Ok folks, after much anticipation on my part & the buyer's, the bumble bee diaper bag is finished.

I really like the final results (although it was made then taken apart and redone).

It goes with the custom ordered car seat rag quilt.

Cloth Headbands

I started a new project yesterday. I made 9 cloth headbands ranging from sizes to fit 4 year olds to adults. I'll be listing them soon and can always custom sizes upon request.

The best part is that they are reversible! AND I used a piece of elastic instead of the suggested velcro. It gives just a little extra give and for girls, they can wear them a little longer as they grow.

Chutes & Ladders Quilt Top

I finally had my first weekend off from work to sew, sew, and sew some more.

I had this quilt top laid out on my dining room table for months now and got it stitched up on Sunday.

I used 2 Moda charm packs from the Chutes & Ladders collection. It measures 32" x 36". I bit smaller than planned but I'll manage to make it into something soon once I choose a backing.

Another tax season...come & gone....

Whew, well as always, tax season ended with a bang. All was going WAY too smoothly when right at 4:30 we had a file that would not e-file due to a program problem. Thankfully, the 2nd call to tech support was a genius and fixed the problem. We won't talk about the 1st call, let's just say they were not so "genius" and leave it at that. LOL

Now I have tomorrow off and just anxious to step into my sewing room and sew something....anything....I've got such a long to-do list already that I don't know where to start!

Let me go figure out my list of things and I'll be back soon with pictures of finished projects....I hope. :-)

My Little Man & His Specs

Welcome all my new followers. I am usually much more chatty than I've been lately but I'm super busy at work this time of year....right about now, really disliking taxes. LOL I will get back to craft blogging VERY soon.

We recently discovered our oldest needed glasses, could explain his struggling this year in school. We got a GREAT deal at America's Best. We were able to make our appointment online and get a login to keep track of our history for him.

We visited the Greenville, SC location and had a wonderful experience. They were absolutely great to deal with from beginning to end. He had a FULL eye exam including one for genetic disorders which they say only ever needs to be done once. With 4 different exams, 2 pair of glasses (with scratch resistant lenses) and FREE replacement insurance, our total cost was $104. That might sound like alot but even Wal-Mart was $89 just for the exam.

Here's a pic of our little man in his new hip glasses. :-)
