My silly 7 year old

My 7 year old has been studying a new chapter in health the past few weeks. He comes home daily with little tidbits of information to share with us. Like the fact that he should brush his teeth after every meal because it's "super important, mom". Now he comes home from school and goes right for the toothbrush because he couldn't brush right after lunch. This is the same kid that if mom tells him to brush his teeth the world is coming to an end. But hey, the boy is brushing 3 times a day without a fight.

A few days ago he came home and told daddy that drinking water is very important and we should drink "6 GALLONS of water per day". WHOA! Daddy just smiled and said "are you sure?" J says, "oh yes dad, 6 glasses just like this one." So then they had a quick lesson in measurements. J realized it was glasses NOT gallons.

I just excited he is paying so much attention in class to share it with us when he gets home.

Sunday Activities

We spent a good family day at the lake. No fish but water was pretty dirty with all the much needed rain we've been getting. We were shocked at just how much the lakes have risen over the past month or so.

I also got to make myself a few crochet face cloths. I never keep anything for myself but I think I'll keep these pretty little things. I just need to stitch in the ends and they are ready to go.

Here is a slideshow of some pics taken today while out playing.

Girls Night Out - Well sort of.....

Just got home from an evening of knitting, eating and chatter with a group of lovely ladies (and 1 gent) at Yes Yarns in Anderson.

It was a fun time and everyone hit the 50% off bins I think.

I did several more rounds on my dh's socks, I'm hoping to start the heels here soon.

It was a much needed break from all the madness of tax season.ra

Pre-Clipped Preview of Latest Quilt

My camera is finally charged so I decided to take a quick pre-clipped photo. I didn't get any clipping done today since I worked a 12 hour day but I have Sunday. My dh also helps with the clipping when he has time too so hopefully it will be finished over the weekend.

This is a nice sized quilt measuring approximately 45" x 55".

Stay tuned for finished pics soon (all fingers crossed).

Car Repair Update

My car went into the "doctor" yesterday. They still have it BUT it might not be as expensive as originally thought....yay!!!

Apparently the clutch has a hydraulic piece (never knew that) and the mechanic said it MIGHT just be that part and NOT the clutch itself. I am keeping my fingers crossed it's the cheaper part of the two. If so, they are going to check out my a/c too. It's been out for about 4 years now. LOL I figured if I could deal w/ no a/c in south FL for a year, the past 3 years in SC was a breeze. BUT it sure would be nice to have the a/c for a road trip or on those 100+ humid summer days.

So, now we just wait to see what happens. Either way, I just can't wait to get my car back. :-)

Spring Meadow Rag Quilt Progress

I FINALLY got all my rows sewn together last night and my pink/white spring raggie throw is ready for clipping.

I used Moda Spring Meadow prints in pinks with a white-on-white to mix up the pinks.

I hope to make a similar in blue and aqua too.

I snapped a pre-clipped pic last night but the camera batteries died and are charging today.

DH was nice enough to volunteer to clip it for me today so hopefully I'll have pics soon of the completed throw.

I was just so excited to actually get a project completed.

Oh Happy Day!!!!

I am soooo excited and it's got nothing to do with sewing or quilting or crafting - imagine that!

My car has been out of order for several months with a worn out clutch - it literally lasted the number of miles the manufacturer said it would, almost to the mile. LOL

Well, my car goes to the mechanic at 9:00 tomorrow morning to get all fixed - YAY!!!!

Doing a happy dance in my chair at work - it will be almost like getting a "new" car! hee hee

Patterns....Humpf

I decided to break down and buy a store bought pattern tonight for a bag that had lots of pockets similar to what I had in mind.

Well, let me tell you, I am very disappointed. The pattern doesn't call for any interfacing, batting or lining. YET it incorporates a zipper along the top. I love the zipper part BUT the fact that the bag is nothing but a single layer of fabric just doesn't seem to me to be a "finished" project.

Maybe it's just me, being a quilter by heart, everything is done in layers.

So, as a result, I am back to square one as originally planned and making it all up as I go. I did bring a pad of paper and a pencil though to write measurements down, etc. as I go along....something I am terrible about doing.

On that note, I will call it a night and dream sweet dreams of fabric, designs and all that fun stuff.

Strawberry Shortcake Tote Bag

Here is my latest creation, a Strawberry Shortcake tote bag.

It's great for diaper bag, daycare bag or a trip to Grandma's house.

This was an experimental project with just an idea in my head. I still need to work out some other details but I'm happy with the results.

Zoe's Pink Pinwheel Quilt

I recently found some old photos of a quilt I made in the summer of 2000 for a friend's daughter.

I do remember having fun making this one. I machine quilted it. I don't recall the exact size since back then I didn't write anything down or follow patterns for that matter. I just made them as gifts.

Bumble Bee Car Seat Rag Quilt

My car seat bumble bee rag quilt is complete. YAY! I am so pleased with the results and the buyer couldn't be happier herself.

I only wish the seams were a bit fluffier, however, this will resolve itself once she washes/dries at home. I had to use the laundry mat dryer and they just don't do as well. These quilts really need to be agitated to get those seams fluffy.

Thanks for looking & I'm off to work on another pink spring butterfly throw sized rag quilt. I have a few rows together already.

Hey Gamecock Fans - I've got your key fobs!!!

I just made a few South Carolina Gamecocks key fobs this evening.

I've got 1 listed in my Etsy shop.

I plan to list other teams very soon. Got a special request? Just let me know.

Bumble Bee Rag Quilt Preview (of the back)

I have my bumble bee car seat rag quilt all sewn together and ready to clip. I've taken a few pics of the back for a preview.

The front is a mirror image of the back except for the soon-to-be fluffy seams.

I absolutely love the blend of these colors together. I sure hope the recipient likes it too!

Bumble Bee Rag Quilt Sneak Peek

Ok, so it's really just a pic of the fabrics. I do have them all cut up and quilted and ready to stitch into rows. It will be a Friday night project while dh is away fishing in a bass fishing tournament.

It's a custom order car seat quilt to match her nursery bedding...it's going to be soooo cute.

Stay tuned for pics of the actual quilt over the weekend. :-)

Georgia Bulldog Baby Rag Quilt

I finished a custom order GA Bulldog baby rag quilt. I'm very pleased with it, it's not "my" team but I really do love the red/black/white all mixed together. They are also great sensory colors for infants so it's a win/win quilt!
