New Halloween Fabrics Coming Soon!
I'm so excited! I love Halloween with my boys, we love to dress up and tell ghost stories, watch Sleepy Hollow (a tradition from my childhood) and just have lots of fun.
To help spread the spooky joy, I have decided to add some Halloween fabrics to my shop. Coming soon are scary spider webs on orange and glow-in-the-dark skulls.
I'm happy to reserve any pre-orders for anyone interested. I will have 15 yards of each print on hand. Contact me for more details.

Interesting Website Traffic
I've not really checked out my website traffic for http://www.ragamuffinquilts.net for several weeks; just stopped in for quick glances.
I found it interesting today that it appears almost 1/2 of my shop visits are coming from Beverly Hills, CA of all places. Not sure why that is interesting to me but I don't know anyone from there so I know it's not a friend or family member. :-) We're talking almost 400 visits in the past 30 days just from that location. Wow!!

Double Wedding Ring Table Runner (WIP)
I am working on a double wedding ring table runner for a friend that is giving it as a wedding gift in September. We chose a vintage piece of fabric that is pre-printed (cheater) fabric and things were looking great until last night.......the fabric tore.....heavy sigh.
I did take a few photos of the stitching before I got too far along. Looks like I'm back to square one and have to complete it by 9/2/2010...yikes! Not bad timing if I didn't work a full time job too. No fear, I work well under pressure! :-)

Steelers Terrible Cowl (Headwarmer)
This is my Pittsburgh Steelers inspired terrible "cowl"/headwarmer. It started off as just a cowl to keep your neck warm but I tried it around my head and it was so toasty warm that I kept is narrow so it can be used for either; keep you ears warm or wear it around your neck to keep your neck, chin & even your nose warm while watching those cold winter football games.

Back to School
Looks like we've almost survived the first week of school despite a few minor mishaps; wrong bus, forgotten bookbags, etc.
Here's to a great school year ahead of us. :-)

Butterfly Pink Plaid Flannel Car Seat Rag Quilt
Found Doggy Update
Some of my followers are also friends/followers on other sites too so some may know we found a dog in our driveway on Saturday morning. We called her "Cleo" for lack of any other name. Her tags didn't tell us her name. We tried for days to contact the number on her rabies tag without any luck until yesterday evening. The vet returned our call this morning and confirmed she left a message for the owners on file to contact her or us directly. This beautiful pup's name is Cherokee. She is a GREAT dog too. We will miss her terribly already but we're sure her owners miss her even more. We may be neighbors so maybe we can visit on our doggy walks now and then. I'll post an update after we hear from her owners. I hope they call soon, she seems to miss someone.
Dryer Sheet Applique Techniques and Tips
Wow, what a great way to "recycle" used dryer sheets! I can't begin to count how many dryer sheets we use weekly so I might try this technique on a few things I wanted to applique. Has anyone tried this? I'm sure all of our readers would like to hear your input too. :-)
Dryer Sheet Applique Techniques and Tips courtesy of Quilt Lovers Guide.
Dryer Sheet Applique is one of the better applique techniques for appliquéing small leaves and flowers.
On the back of your leaf fabric, draw your leaf. Place a “used” dryer sheet (there is too much fabric softener and scent in an unused one, making it stiffer) right sides together with the leaf fabric and sew along your drawn line.
Trim to about 1/8-1/4 inch seam allowance. Make a slit in the dryer sheet only, thus enabling you to turn the leaf inside out. Press.
Pin to your background fabric and using thread the same color as your leaf fabric, make tiny stitches to secure it.
The stitch you use to secure your appliqué piece is like a blind hem stitch, but much smaller than you would use for hemming your trousers. Bring your needle up through the background fabric and just barely catch the folded edge of your appliqué, then straight down or slightly underneath the appliqué and up through the edge again.

My Two Newest Car Seat Rag Quilts
Here are two of my newest car seat rag quilts that were completed over the weekend. Both are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.
These blankets have a "hole" for the car seat or stroller straps so no more little legs kicking the blankets to the ground. These are a great size for use up through the toddler years.
Custom orders welcome! (Price is based on cost of materials.) Contact me for more information.

I Love Productive Weekends
I worked on quite a few projects this weekend. I finished 3 car seat rag quilts, worked on 3 more, cut 8 burp cloths, & almost finished a knit scarf. I think I'm getting out of my crafting funk. :-)
I am also finishing up a full color car seat rag quilt pattern that will be available for sale soon.

Testing my new app
Testing my new application to blog from my iPod touch. I can only post text but it might get me blogging more often since I'm mobile these days.
